Taylor Young prepared Urban Design Guidelines for the George Street Quarter, an area of approximately 6 hectares containing the largest concentration of historic townscape, a large portion of which is designated as a Conservation Area, within the town centre. Subsequently, providing detailed design and supervision support, works totaling £2.1m are now complete. These involved major public realm improvements incorporating new road alignments and parking arrangements, new pedestrian surfacing, street furniture, lighting, boundary treatments and signage. A derelict park and former burial ground have been opened and remodeled and environmental improvements made to a large part of the inner ring road.
